Brach Dodi – Cantor Moshe Stern

Hungary, Pesach 1944: Cantor Yisroel Stern (Father of Moshe Stern) was chanting the Pesach prayer Brach Dodi – which literally means: Run away my beloved. At that time the Nazis were entering Hungary and rounding up the Jews.

Young Moshe Stern escaped and made his way to Eretz Yisroel where he began his career as a world famous Cantor. Years later he composed this piece based on his recollections of those moments as a young child.
