Charlie’s Presentation on Rosenblatt

Famed Cantorial personality Charlie Bernhaut will be delivering a presentation on the preeminent Cantor Yossele Rosenblatt.

The presentation will take place on June 11, 2017 @ 9:45 AM in Park East Synagogue – 163 East 67th Street, Manhattan.

In “Yossele’s World,” Charlie Bernhaut explores the life of the great Cantor Yossele Rosenblatt in the context of the history of sound recordings.

Original 78rpm recordings are played on 1905 RCA Victrola. In a PowerPoint presentation, the listener is taken from Yossele’s birth in the Ukraine in 1882 to the year-by-year details of his rise and fall, up to his untimely death in Palestine in 1933 at the age of 51.

Films of him singing with choirs and with him singing in the first film “talkie,” the Jazz Singer, are shown. The presentation ends with a film clip of Yossele’s son Ralph singing at a Rosenblatt concert at Lincoln Center in 2003, which Charlie co-produced with Cantor Rogosnitzky.

The presentation will be followed by Breakfast – $18.00 per person
